Ham Radio Prices is a website dedicated to helping ham radio enthusiasts find and compare prices on various amateur radio equipment. It acts as a price aggregator and comparison tool, pulling data from multiple online retailers to give users an overview of the market.

Digital Dead Ends: When the Internet Fails in Your Ham Radio Journey

Okay, let’s talk about that digital frustration – it’s a familiar feeling for many hams! After some fun building an Allstar Link Node I experienced the highs and lows of the internet. First I found some great information from some fellow hams. But there is hte dark side where there was a lack of detailed information or worse conflicting information that caused me to spend hours going down rabbit holes trying to solve my problems.
Although no license is required to listen to amateur radio or even purchase a Ham Radio, you will need a license before you transmit on any Amateur band. Being prepared and studying diligently is key to successfully passing the amateur radio license test. This post I will outline a step-by-step approach to studying, preparation, and testing. Along with a few resources to help you along the way

Step One: Study

The first step in obtaining an amateur radio license is to understand the different requirements of the classes of licenses. The exams are stacked, in that you have to start with Technician, then take the General and finally the Amateur Extra. Each level builds on the knowledge of the previous level and gets harder as you progress. Although you must pass each test in order, you are allowed to take all three exams back to back in a single test session. In fact most Volunteer Exam Coordinators will suggest you take the next test for free should you pass the initial test you signed up for.
