It feels like it’s been ages since I last posted here, and honestly, it has been! I wanted to take a moment to explain my extended absence and catch you all up on what’s been happening in my world. If you’ve been wondering where I’ve disappeared to, well, grab a cup of coffee (or tea, or whatever your beverage of choice is), and let’s talk.
The Knee Saga: Operation and Recovery
A big part of my absence has been due to a major life event: I had a knee replacement surgery a while back. I’d been dealing with chronic pain and mobility issues for quite some time, and it finally came to a head where surgery was the best option. Let me tell you, the recovery process is no joke!
While the surgery itself went well, the warning label should also share that pain is intense once the medications and nerve blockers wear off. Plus the post-op period has been a significant commitment. Between physical therapy sessions, managing pain, and simply trying to get back on my feet, the last few months have been pretty intense. I had envisioned being back in the shack and on the air much sooner, but reality had other plans. It’s a slow and steady process, and I’m still working on regaining full strength and mobility.
There have been days where I could barely move, let alone focus on radio projects or writing blog posts. There were also some mental hurdles to overcome as I adjusted to my new normal. It’s been a journey, to say the least, but I’m grateful for the progress I’ve made, and I am continuing to push towards full recovery.
The Work-Life Balancing Act: Travel and Other Demands
Beyond the surgery and recovery, my life has also been thrown into a bit of a whirlwind. Work has become exceptionally demanding recently, with increased travel requirements. I’ve found myself frequently on the road, attending meetings, conferences, and client visits. It’s exciting in some ways, but it also leaves little time for my hobbies and personal projects.
On top of work travel, other personal commitments have also been vying for my attention. Family matters and other obligations have popped up, further stretching my time and energy thin. It’s been a real balancing act trying to juggle everything and unfortunately, the blog has taken a back seat during this busy season.
Moving Forward: Getting Back into the Swing of Things
I know many of you follow this blog (well according to google analytics 5 to 10 of you) for ham radio tips, project updates, and general radio-related musings. I sincerely apologize for the lack of content and any disappointment it might have caused. It was never my intention to leave things dormant for so long, and I appreciate your patience.
Now that I’m gradually recovering and life is (hopefully) settling down a bit, I’m making a conscious effort to get back into the swing of things. I’ve got a few ideas brewing for future posts, including updates on my digital radio adventures (and perhaps a reflection on how my recovery has shifted my perspective!), as well as some project progress.
It might not be a daily or even a weekly update, but I’m committed to getting back to posting content regularly as much as possible. I’ll try to provide a mix of technical content and more personal stories like this one.
Thank You for Your Understanding
I want to express my sincere gratitude to those who have reached out, checked in, or simply stuck around patiently. Your support means a lot, and it’s what keeps me motivated to share my thoughts and experiences.
I’m looking forward to reconnecting with all of you and getting back into the world of ham radio, both on the air and on this blog. Thank you again for your understanding. I’m excited to see what the future holds.
What have you all been up to lately? Any new projects on the go? Let’s chat in the comments below.
